User Centric Rich Application Design

So Moov2 build great Rich Internet Applications (RIA) and Rich Desktop Applications (RDA), and you may have heard about user centric development that companies such as ours employ, but what does that really mean. To some it will be a buzz term thrown about which sounds good, but the end result doesn’t fit the application users, so what’s user centric about that?

We do things a bit differently, our initial design and prototypes do require us to undertake software architecture design tasks, but this is of no interest to the end user, and lets face it, why should it be. The user needs to get the job done, with the least possible fuss and in the quickest possible time, and so that’s where we come in.

Our workshop type sessions will be targeted at listening to the users, and understanding the business, we will even conduct role-play exercises to get to know how your users operate and we will also ask to be shown where the magic of the business really happens! We do this so that we understand what is required from the Rich Internet Applications and Rich Desktop Applications that will then build for you.

We’re not going to be the ones using the system to improve the operational efficiencies and as such we are not going to tell you how to run your business, what we need is your honest input so that we can mould an application which fits into your user’s working life, not the other way round.

From the initial design phases you aren’t going to be bored by code or technical jargon, we are going to build fast prototypes for your user group to “play” with and run through the business processes, pointing out the good bits and the bad, and from then on we will re-work and re-present the prototype until we’re all clear on how the business users need the application to work.

From then on in, we will release limited versions of the application to be tested for functional acceptance, and take feedback along the way, where things need to change we can be open to that, as what the user needs, the user gets and that’s the benefit of a user centric approach.

Do you want to see long periods of development without seeing any progress, big bang implementations, and fuzzy, wordy and jargon filled specifications that result in expensive and time consuming rework and disgruntled users? If the answer is yes then there are plenty of our competitors who will be happy to help you, but if the answer is NO then welcome to Moov2 – let’s talk!
